I'll be talking about blogging at the Denver Social Media Club in two weeks!

Thanks to my friend Jim Turner (of One by One Media), I've been invited to come to the Denver Social Media Club and speak on blogging and the world of new media on September 4th.

I'm excited about the opportunity: it's been such a busy summer that I haven't actually spoken at any venue for a few months now, other than a two hour blogging discussion to the cameras on the set of The Next Internet Millionaire, but that won't be airing for a month or so yet...

If you're in the greater Denver area or are going to find yourself in our fair city over the 4th of September, you are more than welcome to join us. Click here to register: Dave Talks about Blogging at the Denver Social Media Club.

The event details are that it'll be held at the Denver Open Media Studio at 700 Kalamath Street, Denver, CO from 5:30-7:30pm on September 4, 2007.

Two hours, including social time? That'll probably be the greatest challenge as I can talk and talk and talk and talk about this stuff for days on end... (in fact, my kids know well that I can talk for so long that people die, go to heaven, are reincarnated, and are still sitting pretending that they're listening to me. Or is that just my subconscious talking? :-)

More seriously, I have been interested in the Denver Social Media Club since I first heard about it, because if there's one new area that's of great interest to me as a strategic marketing person, it's how things all fit together. What businesses should have a presence on MySpace? Who should have an updated profile on LinkedIn? Does anyone find Orkut of value, or even Facebook, or are they trendy to the point of being massive time sinks, but with precious little to show for it from a business perspective?

I'll also try to touch on one of the great challenges of the Web 2.0 age, as alluded to in a comment on my friend Rick's blog. Rick wrote about the management shakeup and problems at Technorati, just to garner a comment from someone who was surprised at the problem, he'd been thinking all along that Technorati was a hobby, not a business. Indeed, indeed.

I realize that we'll only have two hours, but nonetheless, what would you like to hear me talk about from a blogging and new media perspective? If you can, please do join us too!

Dave,

We're newbies to blogging and social media and have hundreds of questions, but for now, our question would be: How much of your '05 book, "Idiots Guide To Doing Business On Google" is still relevant? Is a new edition coming? Any advice to help us get traction? See you on the 4th.

Brad and Jeannine Crooks

PS. - I just downloaded your blogging ebook. Thanks

Honestly, my book is still quite contemporary because I focus on best practices and on the reasons *why* search engines (esp. Google) make the decisions they do regarding ranking results and such. No news about a new edition, but that did get the wheels spinning in my head... :-)

Dave:

Thank you so much for all the great information you shared last night at the Social Media Club. I could have listened to you talk for at least two more hours. =:)

Do you know if they will make the video available?

Thanks again.
