QUESTIONHow do I get it on the web? How do you decide who, how much should it cost, etc.? Is there a resource book you'd recommend to guide one through this part of the game? The group is a government sponsored one so they probably have an internal contact that they don't know about for the University system or something. Any suggestions on how to help them discover who that might be? Does the host site have to be online at all times if you want users to have 24hr access? Does it need to be some big server somewhere, or can someone dedicate a simple pc?ANSWERTo get a page on the Web itself, as you might guess, involves finding space on a server that's already on the net or bringing up a machine as a server. If you opt for the latter choice, you'd need to have it up and online 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. I strongly suggest the former instead - indeed, all my pages on the Web, including this very document, are managed and maintained by people on other systems.
To find a local company, I recommend you check the local computer magazines and newspapers. Prices range from a quite reasonable $25 / month on up to hundreds or more.
Another alternative is to poke around on the Web itself for some info. One place to check is Yahoo's Web Presence Providers List.
