QUESTIONI've been trying to puzzle this out for a week or longer; in the second edition of your book, on page 21, you show a toolbar but for the life of me I can't find that in my version of Internet Explorer. Help!ANSWERGuess what? The version of Internet Explorer that I used to create the screen shots in that edition of my book is quite a ways behind the most current version. Today you'll find that Internet Explorer looks a lot different and has quite a different range of capabilities. Nonetheless, the majority of the features shown in that earlier toolbar are present in the latest one too.
Let's have a look!
Here's the old toolbar:
and here's the new one:
In the old toolbar, from left to right, the functions are: open folder, go home, go back, go forward, stop loading, reload, favorites, add to favorites, make font larger, smaller, cut, copy and paste. In the new toolbar the Microsoft folk made things a bit easier to work with, so they have the following, again going left to right: back, forward, stop, refresh, home, search, favorites, print, font, and mail. The 'search' feature is new: you can configure it from the "options..." off the View menu to be any search engine you like. They also nuked the cut/copy/paste buttons - a good move - and consolidated the favorites into a single button. The one thing they changed that I don't like is that the functionality of the font size change button is much more confusing than in the earlier version where it was very clear if you were clicking for a larger or smaller size.
I hope that clears things up!
