Bill Maisel, MD, MPH

Bill Maisel is senior vice president, head of regulatory affairs and quality assurance (RAQA) at Intuitive. In this role, he leads the company’s global regulatory and quality efforts and serves on the Executive Leadership Team.

Maisel joined Intuitive in 2024 as vice president and senior medical officer, working closely with scientific, medical, product, policy, quality, and regulatory teams to advance minimally invasive care across the da Vinci, Ion, and future technology platforms.

Prior to Intuitive, Maisel spent more than 14 years at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), where he held senior leadership roles including chief medical officer and director of the Office of Product Evaluation and Quality at the Center for Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH).

Earlier in his career, Maisel was an associate professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School and a board-certified cardiologist with more than 15 years of clinical experience.

Maisel holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a medical degree from Cornell University Medical College, and a master’s degree in public health from the Harvard School of Public Health.
